The Kitesurf Centre sits on Kite Beach at Camber Sands, around 60–90 minutes south of London. A wide, flat, sandy beach with waist-deep water a long way out makes it ideal learning ground for everyone — from complete beginners nailing their first board starts to advanced riders working on new tricks.
The closest quality kitesurf school to London
We’re the largest kitesurfing school in the area, and a lot of our regular kiters travel down from London for the day or the weekend. High-speed trains from St Pancras International reach Ashford in well under an hour, with an easy connection on to Rye and a bus that runs right past the centre — or it’s a straightforward drive down the A21 or M20. Whichever way you come, it’s an easy day or weekend trip for riders of all levels.
The beaches
The Kitesurf Centre is the only licensed school at Camber with its own designated teaching zone, and we’re licensed to teach at both Camber Sands and nearby Greatstone. Those two opposite-facing beaches mean we can run lessons in almost any wind direction — backed by some of the best wind stats in the country and the backdrop of a Blue Flag beach set between two nature reserves. For anyone heading out of London to learn, Camber is hard to beat.
The team
Our instructors are among the most experienced in the country — many are senior instructors and team riders who have competed across kitesurfing disciplines. Between them they’re qualified to teach kitesurfing, powerkiting, kite buggying, landboarding, hydrofoiling and stand up paddleboarding. Every lesson is high quality, safe and good value.
Private tuition for up to three people runs all year round; group lessons run March–November. With two beaches to choose from, lessons can go ahead in almost any conditions.

Travelling to Camber from London
By car: about an hour from South London via the M20 or A21. Parking at the centre is free.
By public transport: regular trains run from St Pancras International, Victoria and Charing Cross to Rye, changing at Ashford International. The 100 bus leaves from outside Rye station and drives past the centre — most drivers will happily drop you right outside. For live routes, CityMapper and Google Maps are your friends.
