Why Train With The Kitesurf Centre?

You'll be training at the largest kitesurf school in the UK, based directly on the beach at Camber Sands, one of the most consistent and wind-reliable training locations in the country. With world-class facilities, a highly experienced coaching team and direct beach access, this is one of the best environments in the UK to complete your instructor training.

Becoming a kitesurf instructor is about more than passing a course — it's about learning how to teach safely, confidently and professionally in real conditions. We provide:
– One of the most experienced instructor teams in the UK
– Training at a BKSA National Training Centre
– Direct beachfront access at Camber Sands
– Consistent wind conditions for reliable training
– A fully operational kitesurf school environment
– Real student teaching experience throughout your course

The Training Environment & Facilities

You'll train within our newly upgraded centre, including a newly renovated beachfront shop, modern classroom and training spaces, changing rooms and locker facilities, the Riders Lounge (our dedicated members and training space), high-speed WiFi and coworking areas, all within a relaxed but professional community environment.

Camber Sands is one of the most reliable kitesurfing locations in the UK, with strong wind consistency and access to two nearby beaches (Camber Sands and Greatstone). This lets us adapt to conditions and maximise water time throughout your training — more time on the water means more real teaching experience, and faster progression.

Instructor Pathways

BKSA Level 1 Instructor Training — the first step into your professional instructor career. This qualification allows you to teach at BKSA affiliated schools and forms the foundation of your coaching pathway. Prerequisites typically include strong kitesurfing ability and control, valid BKSA membership, first aid certification, a powerboat qualification and shadow teaching experience.

BKSA Senior Instructor Development — designed for instructors progressing into leadership and centre management roles. This stage focuses on independent lesson delivery, advanced coaching techniques, group management and safety leadership, and centre operations experience. Prerequisites include logged teaching hours at a recognised centre, experience as a qualified instructor, valid first aid and safety certifications, and demonstrated teaching competency.

Revalidation, Gap Year, SUP & First Aid

Instructor Revalidation — all BKSA instructors must revalidate every 3 years to maintain teaching status. Our course runs on a flexible basis throughout the year and covers updated BKSA teaching standards, safety and rescue refreshers, equipment and industry updates, teaching best-practice review and practical on-water assessment where required.

Gap Year Instructor Programme (10 Weeks) — our flagship Career Accelerator Instructor Course is a full-immersion programme taking you from rider level to qualified instructor. In just 10 weeks you'll complete approximately 150 hours of training, including shadowing and co-teaching with senior instructors, real student lesson experience, multi-discipline watersports training, full exposure to centre operations and a progressive instructor development pathway.

BSUPA Instructor Training — we also offer BSUPA Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor Training, expanding your qualification options within watersports instruction.

First Aid Training — a valid first aid qualification is required for all professional instructors. We periodically run Emergency First Aid at Work courses at the centre, delivered in a practical, watersports-focused environment.

A Real Watersports Training Hub & Community

At The Kitesurf Centre you are not just attending a course — you are training inside a fully operational kitesurf school. You'll be surrounded by active instructors and real teaching environments, a busy beachfront watersports centre, students progressing daily on the water, a growing rider and instructor community, and riders using the Riders Lounge coworking space.

Beyond your course you become part of our wider watersports community: join our WhatsApp community for live updates and sessions, connect with riders, instructors and students, use the Riders Lounge to work, relax and socialise, and take part in community sessions and beach meetups. Many instructors remain part of the centre long after qualifying, because this is more than a training centre — it's a community.
