Become a Qualified Kitesurfing Instructor

Our instructor training is designed to take confident, independent riders and develop them into safe, knowledgeable and highly employable instructors. You'll gain the skills, confidence and certification needed to start working in the kitesurf industry.

Based at Camber Sands, our training takes place in one of the UK's most consistent kitesurfing locations, with some of the best wind statistics in the country and beaches that work across multiple wind directions — the perfect real-world classroom for learning how to teach.

Why Train With The Kitesurf Centre?

We are one of the UK's longest-running kitesurf schools, with a strong reputation for producing confident, capable instructors. As new owners, we continue to build on this foundation with a focus on modern equipment, real teaching environments and progression-led coaching.

Our goal is simple: to help you become an instructor that schools actually want to hire.

Our training focuses on:
– Real teaching scenarios with genuine students
– Strong safety and risk management systems
– Clear communication and coaching skills
– Confidence leading students on the beach and in the water

What Is the BKSA Instructor Course?

The BKSA ITC is the official pathway to becoming a BKSA Qualified Kitesurf Instructor, recognised by British Kitesports.

The course combines:
– Theory sessions
– Practical teaching workshops
– Water-based training
– Teaching practice with real students
– Assessment and structured feedback

By the end of the course, you'll be confident teaching complete beginners through to early riding stages using structured lesson plans and proven coaching methods.

What You'll Learn

Teaching Skills — how to deliver structured beginner lessons, explain theory clearly and confidently, manage students safely in real conditions, give effective coaching and feedback, and adapt lessons for different learning styles.

Safety & Risk Management — safety is at the core of professional instruction. You'll develop a deep understanding of site assessment and hazard awareness, rescue techniques, incident prevention, and group management and beach safety systems.

Equipment & Setup — detailed knowledge of modern kitesurf equipment, setup and pack-down systems, equipment selection for students, and troubleshooting common problems.

Real Teaching Experience

One of the most valuable parts of the course is the opportunity to teach real students under supervision. This gives you hands-on coaching experience, confidence running lessons, practical feedback from experienced trainers and real-world teaching scenarios.

By the end of the course, you won't just know the theory — you'll already be teaching.

Career Development & Further Courses

Once qualified, you can work as a kitesurf instructor at kitesurf schools in the UK, at international kite centres and resorts, seasonally or full-time, and while travelling the world. Many of our graduates go on to teach abroad or return to work with us during the season.

We also offer further professional development for qualified instructors:
BKSA Senior Instructor Training Course — for experienced instructors progressing into leadership, advanced coaching and instructor development roles.
BKSA Revalidation Course — keeps your qualification current, ensuring you stay aligned with the latest safety procedures, teaching standards and industry updates.
IKO to BKSA Conversion Course — for instructors qualified through the International Kiteboarding Organization, converting your qualification to the UK BKSA system so you can work in the UK.
