Hand-Selected Instructors

Every instructor is carefully chosen for their experience, attitude and passion for teaching. All of our team are BKSA or IKO qualified, with many having managed watersports centres in the UK and abroad or continuing to do so during the winter months.

This depth of experience means you're learning from professionals who understand how to teach safely, clearly and effectively in real conditions.

Continuous Training & Progression

Great instructors make a huge difference to your experience on the water. Teaching kitesurfing and watersports requires skill, patience and constant development, which is why we invest heavily in staff training and coaching.

We continually review and refine our teaching methods, share knowledge as a team and work together to keep improving the experience we offer every student.

Meet the Team

Brad — Owner, Head Instructor & Coach. Brad first learned to kitesurf right here in Camber Sands and has been teaching watersports and snowsports since the age of 16. A true all-round waterman, he rides across multiple disciplines including strapless kitesurfing, kite foiling, twin tip, wingfoiling, parawing, windsurfing and SUP. He has taught in world-class locations around the globe, including Necker Island, Sir Richard Branson's private island, bringing international experience and fresh ideas back to Camber to help shape the future of The Kitesurf Centre.

Ian — Owner, Instructor & Coach. Ian is a progressive kitesurfer and keen sailor, with a strong background in competitive sailing including winning the Round the Island Race. He learned to kitesurf alongside his son Max and has played a huge role in supporting his journey into professional competition. Always at the beach if it's windy, he's an integral part of the Camber community and is known for fearless kiteloops and big air riding, bringing a technical eye and passion for progression to coaching.

Max — Coach. Max began kitesurfing at just seven years old here at Camber Sands and is now the number one British rider, competing internationally as part of the Duotone team. Specialising in Big Air, he travels the world competing and is aiming to qualify for Red Bull King of the Air, the biggest big-air kitesurfing event in the world. When he's home, he shares his knowledge as part of our coaching team.

Ben D — Shop & Instructor. Ben has been kitesurfing since 2000 and has taught and competed worldwide. He still throws huge old-school tricks and brings decades of industry knowledge to both the shop and the school. His favourite kitesurf destination is Nouadhibou in Mauritania, West Africa.

Karolina — Shop & School Bookings. Karolina is a passionate watersports enthusiast who previously helped manage a wakeboard park in London for over 10 years. She loves travelling and exploring new kitesurf destinations and helps keep the school and bookings running smoothly.

Clive — Instructor. Clive has been kitesurfing for many years and began teaching on the water in 2009. Before that, he taught powerkiting in London parks and brings a huge amount of experience and knowledge to the team.

Alex — Instructor. Alex has been teaching for over 11 years and previously spent a season instructing in New Zealand. His dream conditions are 25 knots on a 9m Rebel.

Ben P — Instructor. Ben has been kitesurfing for over 20 years and began by teaching friends before turning professional. He's happiest riding a surfboard in head-high waves.

Joe — Instructor. Joe fell in love with kitesurfing after early retirement and quickly knew he wanted to become an instructor. He now shares his passion on the same beach where he first learned.

Doug — Instructor. Originally from New Zealand, Doug brings years of coaching experience, a great sense of humour and a love of the sea (and motorbikes).

Tibor — Instructor. Tibor joins the team after teaching summer seasons in the Greek Islands. His favourite kitesurf destination is Cape Town.

Archie — Instructor. Archie is a snowboard instructor who recently completed a season in Japan and has now qualified as a BKSA kitesurf instructor. We're excited to have him on the team this year.
