What Is the Bodydrag Basics Lesson?

This kitesurfing lesson is where you truly learn to harness the power of the kite in the water.

After learning to fly the kite in your first lesson, we now use that power to move you through the water using body dragging techniques — one of the most important stages of learning to kitesurf.

You’ll develop control, direction and confidence while building the exact kite skills needed to start riding a board in the next lesson.

What You’ll Learn in Your Second Kitesurf Lesson

Refresh & Prepare

We begin by refreshing the key skills from your first lesson:• Kite setup and safety checks• Wind awareness and site assessment• Confident kite control in the water

Once everyone is comfortable, we move straight into the main event.

Master the Essential Body Drags

Body dragging teaches you how to control power, direction and speed while moving through the water with your kite.

You’ll learn and practise all the key body dragging techniques needed for safe and effective kitesurf progression:

  • Downwind body drag• Downwind body drag with power strokes• Directional body drag• Upwind body drag (board retrieval technique)• Balanced body drag (board start preparation)

These skills are essential before introducing the board and are used by kitesurfers at every level.

More Kite Time = Faster Progression

Once kite control improves, we aim to fly two kites at once where possible, allowing you to work in pairs and effectively double your kite time.

This means:• More time flying• More practice• Faster progression• Greater confidence before your first rides

By the end of the session, you’ll feel dramatically more comfortable controlling the kite in real water conditions.

Small Groups = More Kite Time

Maximum 4 riders per lesson.Lesson duration adapts to group size to ensure everyone gets quality coaching:

  • 4 riders → 4 hour lesson• 3 riders → 3.5 hour lesson• 2 riders → 3 hour lesson
