The UK's first and only dedicated Kitesurf Instructor Gap Year Course, delivered by the UK's leading kitesurf school at Camber Sands. In just 10 weeks, students progress from complete beginner to qualified kitesurf instructor, gaining real teaching experience and opening the door to instructor jobs around the world.

Programme Overview

Our Kitesurf Instructor Gap Year Course is designed for students taking a gap year before university or looking for a unique adventure-based career experience.

Students will:
– Learn to kitesurf from complete beginner
– Develop advanced riding skills
– Train as professional instructors
– Gain internationally recognised certifications
– Assist real beginner lessons
– Access instructor job opportunities

By the end of the programme, graduates are ready to work as kitesurf instructors both in the UK and internationally.

What's Included

150+ hours of structured training, including:
– Professional kitesurf instructor course
– RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification
– First Aid certification
– Instructor teaching workshops
– Video analysis and progression coaching
– Real teaching experience assisting lessons
– Job opportunity at the end of the course
– Support finding winter instructor jobs overseas
– Opportunity to return the following summer as a full-season instructor

Duration & Schedule

The course runs for 10 weeks. Evenings and weekends are free to relax, explore the area and practise kitesurfing independently.

On-water training includes:
– Kite control and safety systems
– Rescue and safety boat operations
– Instructor development and feedback

A maximum of 8 students per course ensures personalised attention throughout.

Certifications

Upon completion, graduates receive:
– BKSA Kitesurf Instructor qualification
– RYA Powerboat Level 2 licence
– First Aid certificate
– A guaranteed job offer, subject to completing the course and passing assessment

Good to know

Who is the typical student?

Most students are 18-25 year olds interested in travel and adventure beyond traditional routes. No previous kitesurfing experience is required.

Is accommodation included?

Accommodation is not included, however we recommend that participants stay in a shared house in the local area. Group rentals with other course participants are common, and living together helps create a strong community throughout the programme.
