Kites
2010 Liquid Force Envy

The newest kite in the Liquid Force range and it has been designed as ‘Delta Hybrid’. Julien Fillion has taken the original Delta shape designs and improved on them to go ‘Beyond Delta’, removing the problems the initial designs had. The kite is designed to suit every rider, it has massive amounts of continual depower, simply and trustworthy bridle and the usual bomb proof liquid force construction using the best material on the market – Tejin. I believe still the only brand to have superior reinforced seams- glued triple stitched and have internal reinforced strips along the whole leading edge. Liquid Force keeps you out of the repair shop and in the water!
The Envy has power on tap but is manageable, due to the Delta profile, it has great low end but due to the design, great depower also. The Envy blends the popular benefits of the Delta type kites but adds the proven *LF Diamond Wingtips and USB- 2.0 Bridle system to improve them beyond anything currently on the market. The Envy works with a 3 strut configuration and inflatable wing tips, the reduction of the struts reduces the overall weight by a whole pound (0.5kg) in the 12m size, this is really noticeable when flying as the kite is far more reactive and quicker through the sky. The Liquid Force Envy is around 20% lighter than the average SLE which provides a fun light feel. The reduction of the struts reduces back stall to a minimum in light winds, encourages better drifting and offers superior stability, it is also faster to in/deflate. The reduction of weight is completely from removing the struts but has meant the construction has not suffered from the ‘diet’.
The three strut design was developed around stability and structure. The profile of the kite means that just three struts and the inflated wing tips keep it solid in the sky and when relaunching, even in waves (videos to follow)!
*LF Diamond wingtips- The design has been tested on all the Liquid Force products for the past two years and they have been a massive success. They take the swept wing tip technology allowing forwards tilt and therefore maximum depower but keep the square wide ends giving fast turning speed, solid structure and best of all- reducing the chance of damaging the kite in slams. This is because the whole leading edge touches the water at the same time during a crash (like a C kite), all the way to the wing tips, therefore spreading the load evenly and not causing an deformation and excess tension in the trailing edge, which is what causes kites to tear in half. Your average swept wing tip kite rolls all the way to the wing tips during a crash completely deforming the kite and causing massive amounts of tension in the trailing edge and all too often, large repairs!
The diamond wingtips allows immediate response due to the big square wing tips but also offers constant pull and power through the turns.
The Envy is an ‘All Terrain Kite’ aimed at every level of rider. Try this before purchasing a Best Waroo or F one Bandit 3, you will be more than pleasantly surprised!

Liquid Force 2010 Hifi Comp – 2nd Generation
The 2010 Liquid Force Hi Fi Comp has taken all the good points from the 2009 Hi Fi and Hi Fi Comp and merged them together to produce the ultimate high depower C kite.
The grunty power of the 2009 Hi Fi and the aggressive performance of the 2009 Hi Fi Comp has produced the ultimate kite – powerful, fast through the sky, grunty, massive pop and high depower.
The Hi Fi comp is considered a C ‘Hybrid’, it has improved the performance of any 2009 C kite on the market but has the ease of relaunch, safety and high depower of almost any SLE.
Due to the technology and profile designs taken from the Envy and Havoc, the Hi Fi Comp will relaunch like any SLE, similar to the 2009 Hi Fi. Just pull a back line and it pivot from the water and launch up from the edge of the window.
Multiple attachment points – The Hi Fi Comp continues the technology taken from the 2009 model in which multiple attachment points were available. It boasts 3 for the front lines and 2 at the rear to set the kite up to perform exactly how the rider wished. It can be switched from a freestyle kiteloop beast to a hardcore grunty wakestyle machine in seconds. With options for fast and slow turning and high or low depower to suit any rider.
Proven diamond wingtips
*LF Diamond wingtips- Just like the Envy, the Hi Fi Comp has continued the much trusted Diamond wingtip design -The design has been tested on all the Liquid Force products for the past two years and they have been a massive success.
These wingtips allow the Hi Fi comp the massive amounts of depower it has but still remains responsive. I don’t think there has ever been a kite with such direct ‘C’ kite feel and feedback but also this amount of depower ever made.
5 strut C kite structure
The 2010 Hi Fi Comp boasts a C kite shape so needs the 5 struts to hold its structure. The solid structure is a proven platform for constant pull and pop, specifically for freestyle and wake style manoeuvres. The struts are super thin to minimise drag and weight but maximise the kite speed through the air.
Thin leading edge / deep canopy
The latest designs in performance kites see the LE become thinner and thinner. The reason being that this allows them to cut through the air more easily, minimising drag and creating a fast and responsive kite. This increases the height of jumps and causes the kite to come out of kite loops much faster. The Hi Fi comp is no exception and has taken it to a new level. The leading edge is really narrow for maximum performance.
Having a thin LE and efficient kite means the design can allow a slightly deeper canopy for more grunty pull similar to the 2009 Hi Fi. Usually this would slow the kite down too much because of the excess drag from the air running over the extra canopy material (from being deeper) but the kite is already so efficient it doesn’t affect it in any way. So the Hi Fi Comp is grunty but aggressively quick through the sky. You may see that other kite brands are starting to replicate this idea on their own designs to get the great low end the Hi Fi has offered over the past two years.
USB 2.0 5th Line Bridle
The Hi Fi Comp flies on 5 lines. It uses a 5th line bridle to spread the load across the leading edge to maximise stability. This feature has worked excellently on the 2009 models and this year is no different. It holds the kites in a solid C structure and allows no deformation. The 5th line has the same attachment on the CPR bar as the two front lines, so when trimmed to depower, all 3 lines stay the same tension from the bar, keeping the kite the correct shape all of the time. The 5th line can be leashed to for added safety if the user wishes.
Nuke proof construction
The Hi Fi Comp possesses the same nuke proof construction as the whole Liquid Force range with triple stitching and double glued seems, Tejin rip stop canopy and reinforced segments along with buffers along the LE. The canopy has been designed tested and redesigned so as to minimise stress on any segment of the kite and spreading the force from an impact with the water or land. This massively reduces the risk of the kite tearing from any point along the canopy whether in a wave or from an impact. Its a kite designed for competitions and competition riders who practice tricks and abuse their kites. This is not a kite you are likely to find in two pieces!
Thomas Alsbirks winter job is to megaloop the prototypes into the water to find areas of weakness and improve on them until the final product is faultless. We have designed this product that will continually keep you on the water rather than in the repair shop!
Cleanest bar ever
The Hi Fi Comp uses the same CPR bar as the Havoc and Envy but with the 5th line set up. Please see details below.
Limited Edition Colour scheme
For 2010 the Hi Fi Comp will come in the Limited Edition colour scheme which will keep in line with the limited edition harness and binding’s colour scheme. It will only be available to team riders and on pre orders, so get down to your local kite shop ASAP to get your hands on one!
Once again Julien Fillion has produced a market leading design to out perform any other performance kite on the market but with far superior ease of use and progression available.

Liquid Force 2010 Havoc – Generation 4

The 2009 Liquid Force Havoc was a huge success, it was faster, more stable and higher performance than any SLE Liquid Force had produced. For 2010, they have tweaked and improved on the design.
The fast turning speed and thin leading edge (similar to the Hi Fi Comp) has been kept to make the kite as efficient as possible but the profile has been redesigned for better low end pull. The already powerful Havoc has just got more powerful! According to Julien Fillion, the new 2010 10m Havoc will have similar pull to the 2009 12m, however, it will also be much faster turning.
The massive amounts of constant depower has been kept from the 2008 and 2009 designs so the wind range has again improved from the higher low end the new profile produces.
The Havoc is a C shape orientated performance SLE. It has a flatter section in the middle for more pull and power and deeper profile for more pop as it sits slightly deeper in the window. This does not hinder its upwind capabilities though as the first rides on the new kite has proven!
The Havoc uses on a similar bridle to the 2009 model with improvements to the wing tip designs for increased turning speed in the larger sizes and to ease relaunch even further.
4 Strut light weight performance profile
For 2010 the Havoc has lost the centre strut and spread the other 4 accordingly along the canopy for a strong solid structure. The advantage of this new design is a lighter kite with faster response from bar input, increased lift, more low end power with a cleaner feel and smoother air flow across the main wind catchment area of the kite – the centre. This cleaner free flow of air over the kites profile will increase performance with more hangtime, and better upwind capabilities, not to mention a lighter feel of the kite and more responsive and quicker turning.
*LF Diamond wingtips- Just like the Envy and Hi Fi Comp 2, the Havoc has continued the much trusted Diamond wingtip design -The design has been tested on all the Liquid Force products for the past two years and they have been a massive success.
These wingtips allow the Havoc the massive amounts of depower it has but still remains responsive.
USB 2.0
The Havoc uses a similar bridle to the 2009 model as already mentioned- The proven LF cascade SLE bridle system with static wing tip pulley that has been so successful for the past 2 seasons. It provides simple smooth depower, effortless and instant relaunch and unmatched reliability which means less swimming and more riding!
Nuke proof construction
The Havoc possesses the same nuke proof construction as the whole Liquid Force range with triple stitching and double glued seems, Tejin rip stop canopy and reinforced segments along with buffers along the LE. The Havoc is in its 4th Generation now so every year the construction has only improved. You will rarely; if ever see a broken Havoc on your beach!
Cleanest bar ever
The Havoc uses the same CPR bar as the Hi Fi Comp and Envy with the 4 line set up. Please see details below.

CPR – Centreline push release system
The CPR is Liquid Forces latest and greatest design. The premium performance, ultimate in safety and unmatched in style control system.
The CPR is a brand new control system designed around a breakthrough centre line push release safety system. The release allows riders an instant and effortless safety release of the kite, with either hand from the front or back of the bar to either the 100% depower flag line or 90% depower mainline leash option.
While the primary focus on this new system is on the safety and release advancements, the entire bar has been redesigned and improved.
100% de-power flag line
The LF CPR control system has a 100% depower flag line leash attachment option. When hooked to the flag line and the bar or CPR are released, the kite will completely depower with the riders leash attached to the flag line. This will leave them connected to only one front line, completely flagging and de-powering the kite. If it’s the Hi Fi Comp, this will be the 5th line rather than the front line. The front line comes down through the bar and can be leashed to on the metal ring shown in the right picture. The flag line (which runs through the bar and to the front or 5th line) can be completely removed at the riders will. A simple procedure and a replacement webbing loop comes as standard to attached to the front line or leash line about the bar instead. Only expert riders may prefer this if they are leashing to suicide or 90% depower mainline option. This will keep the bar that tiny bit cleaner- always striving for perfection.
Below the bar de-power cleat
The power adjustment mainline runs through a 3d Moulded cleat, moulded into the CPR Chicken Loop. This allows effortless adjustment of the mainline and an extreme amount of de-power, always within reach below the bar, moulded cleanly right into the chicken loop surface. The cleat is stainless steel for maximum life spane but is replaceable and it has sharp enough teeth to not allow the mainline to slip. The mainline is thinner and tougher than 2008 and 2009 so as to allow the bar to run more smoothly up and down even when the bar is pulled in for extreme turning. This will massively increase the life span of the main line.
Centre Line Push Release
The LF CPR Release is designed for ultimate safety and simplicity, allowing a rider to release the kite with either hand from front or back of the bar, always the same either side. The release is out of the way for unhooking and hooking back in without any accidental releases! Probably the simplest and most efficient release ever made. It will release with one finger under a load of 800kg but will never go off accidentally.
Non mechanical 100% moulded QR design
The LF CPR is unique in that is has NO MECHANICAL or METAL parts. Each of the quick release parts are moulded plastic and will not rust, seize or corrode and will always function in sand, salt, heat or snow. Being 100% non mechanical means that there are no areas which will suffer from wear or tear and the release will be operate successfully every time.
When the quick release is activated, the chicken loop separates from the bar, and the leash holds either the front line or main line for depower. The chicken loop will stay attached to your harness unless you have removed the donkey dick, in the scenario, most riders without the donkey dick will be leashing ‘suicide’ to the chicken loop and therefore not lose it, but the kite would blow away? Fortunately LF have thought of this scenario and have a few options……
Either, you leash to the suicide and flag line, so it goes to suicide but then flags out safely when the safety is pulled – best of both worlds surely?
Or you leash to the main line but place the leash through the chicken loop so when the chicken loop and bar separate on release, the chicken loop stays hanging on the leash and can be connected back again. This option holds the main line out of the way for hooking back in again as well because the weight of the leash pulls it to one side or below the hook in area.
Or third option, leash to the mainline and allow both to separate but pick up the floating chicken loop when ready to reconnect. The foam on the base of the donkey dick will cause it to float, however this is not an option I would go for!
Quick click CPR release reset
Designed to be just as easy and reliable to reset as to release, even from the water. The CPR resets simply by snapping the chicken loop onto the mainline and then pulling the red release piece down until it clicks. Done!
Colour coded 3d Moulded Eva Grip
More comfortable than ever with bold colour coded grip. The bar grip is very easy to see the right / left side of the bar while flying and even when getting tumbled underwater. You always know which end of the bar to grab even in bright silhouette sunlight.
Auto indexed chicken loop
This allows a stiff and constant alignment of the chicken loop when unhooking / hooking back in. The loop does not flop around and is always aligned correctly with the bar. No need to look to unhook or re-hook. The chicken loop is also much larger than most making this process even easier.
The size of the loop can be adjusted and readjusted whenever necessary with a simple movement of 3 screws. The donkey dick can be removed and reattached with one screw. No need to cut it off.
The bar comes with standard 22m Dyneema lines with a waxy plastic type coating to prolong the life span. This isn’t sticky so doesn’t attract sand and dirt. The end of the lines are sleeved as usuall but just as in 2009 also have 4 inch extensions made of tough material so the sleeving does not wear through and the lines are not useless after just a few months.

Liquid Force 2010 Boards
For 2010 Liquid Force have introduced a new era of board technology, for the first time in production boards they use both composite foam and wood. The Kaos, Influence/Grind, Concepft DLX/Grind, WLF Ltd and Lowrider have composite foam for stiffnes and huge pop along with wood stringers for strenght durability, flex and springyness. They have also introduced ‘liquid rails’ which are made of a material taken from snowboard technology that is more fleixble than ABS and so wont crack. There are no other production kiteboards on the earth that have this much technolgy for maximum performance and strength. The new technology also makes the boards extrmemely light, even lighter than last years recoil comp!

2010 Liquid Force Bindings:
For 2010 the bindings are built on the new Liquid force fly chassis, the baseplate is no longer a separate part but is moulded around the boot. The base plate is only on the sides of the boot not under, creating direct contact with the sole of the boot and the board for a very direct feel. Due to much less base plate material the bindings are ultra light weight, they are now only the weight of a light running trainer. They dont make a board any heavier than straps do! The new foam used under foot absorbs pressure, when a golf ball is thrown at the sole it does not bounce back it stops dead, imagine that absorbancy on your landings…….amazing! There are no longer insert holes but just one grove with teeth for nearly unlimited choice of stance angle. Inside the boot the J bars at the ankle have increased further in size for a super tight fit to completely eliminate heel lift.
